Three virtual visit formats available!
1. Author Chat! Q&A Session
After reading Digging for Words as a class, students will have an opportunity to ask Angela questions about the writing process, José’s library, and anything else they might like to ask.
Free, but limited availability.
2. The Story Behind the Story
In this author presentation, students will see footage of José’s real-life library, learn about life in Colombia, and discuss the importance of book access for all. Following an interactive read-aloud, Angela will talk about the writing process that followed, from first draft to research and revision to publication. There will be time for Q&A.
Ideal for grades 2-5
Classroom or whole-school assembly
3. Write Alongside You
In this hands-on writer's workshop, Angela will talk about her journey from young reader to published author. Students will explore the craft of writing, with a deep dive into lyrical language and word choice. There will be time for sharing and feedback.
Due to the intensive nature of this workshop, this format is limited to a single class (max 25 students).
Ideal for grades 2-6
